I like fruit and Thailand had lots of strange ones Some were totally new and some were only slightly different to what we have in the Caribbean. My favourite was Rambutan. So much that I've been nicknamed Ngaw (the thai word for rambutan).
Lots and lots of fruits on sale at the market. See the size of the guavas (farang in thai) in the foreground!
 
Durian. A very strong smell. So strong that this fruit is banned from many public places like buses.

Rambutan. A bit scary looking but very tasty.
 
This is what the rambutan looks like when you open it. The flesh has a similar texture (and comes off the seed in the same way) to what we bajans call ackees.
 
Mangosteen. Not my favourite.
 
This fruit is called
 
Durian. Could be a soursop relative.
 
Sweet tamarind. Yes, they are naturally sweet.
 
A big guava. Its wrapped up but still quite big. It wasn't so sweet though.
 
This is jack fruit. Looks like its related to soursop.
